Youth groups will meet however the Youth Havdalah has been postponed. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Daniel Cohen Indoor Masking Update  In accordance with the policies of the City of Stamford, the following is now in effect at CAS: Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is required to wear a mask. Masks with filters are not acceptable. During kiddushim, masks must be worn unless you are eating. We will continue to have a separate dessert table for children. Children are not permitted to serve themselves from the food table. For more information from the Stamford Dept of Health, click here. My father died in Adar during the regular year. When would I observe his Yaarzeit when there is Adar 1 and Adar 2? Many thanks, A devoted Agudath Sholom member Answer: Dear friend, The halacha states that if someone passed away in a non leap year, as is the case with your father, you observe the yahrzeit on Adar 1 in a leap year. Unlike with Purim, which is celebrated on Adar 2 due to the concept of connecting redemption of Purim to Passover, the custom is to observe yahrzeit on the first Adar as it is the first opportunity to do the mitzvah. This is the "real' yahrzeit. For this reason, the shul sends notices to people to observe the yahrzeit in Adar 1. However, some people choose to observe both Yaarzeits (Adar 1 and Adar 2) as a stringency but the main yahrzeit in Adar 1. May your father's memory be for a blessing and may we share semachot together soon.
