The Koren Machzor features a commentary written by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, eloquent and contemporary translation and clear instructions to guide you through the prayers. We thank the family for their donation.

Reminder:When visiting the CAS cemetery, please avoid parking in a manner that blocks other cars from driving through. If you need the code to the gate, please call the office.

Important Update for the End of the Shemittah/Sabbatical Year - Pruzbul and Loan Amnesty

Jewish law obligates every Jewish person to cancel, after the culmination of the shmittah year, various types of debt due to him or her.  This does not apply to a debt owed to a beis din, a Jewish court.

If a creditor executes a pruzbul, he or she is not obligated to cancel debts.  A pruzbul may be executed at any time before the end of the shmittah year.  However, since a pruzbul covers only debts already existing at the time of its execution, it is usually implemented at the very end of the year.  This Rosh Hashana marks the end of the shmittah year.

When a creditor arranges for the execution of the pruzbul form in the presence of a beis din, debts owed to him or her are transferred by the creditor to the beis din, so that the debts will continue to be in force after the end of the shmittah year, and the beis din then authorizes the creditor to collect on their behalf.

Please see the form and article below for more information and be in touch if you would like me to help you facilitate a pruzbol.

Thank you very much, Rabbi Cohen

Thanks On behalf of the Neitlich/Baer family, I would like to thank the entire community for the many kindnesses shown to my family after the passing of my father, Irv Neitlich. We are so lucky to be living in such a supportive community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - Sharyn Baer

Thanks to the member family for their donation which allowed us to improve the Chapel lighting. And thanks to Matt for getting it done!

Important Torah Reading Protocol   We are gratified when we have Torah readers on Shabbat. I am always happy to facilitate training if would like to learn to lain or read a Bar Mitzvah parsha from many years ago. Please note that if you do plan on reading it is imperative that you let me know so we do not double book. I need to know 6 weeks in advance of the Torah reading.
Thank you very much.

HIGH HOLIDAY PARKING

Please note that overflow parking in the church lot across the street is available the evening of September 13, during the day Monday and Tuesday, September 14-15 until 3:30 PM., the evening of September 22 and during the day September 23 until 3:30 PM

Boxwood & Holbrook Drives

At our request, the police department will place signs on Boxwood and Holbrook Drives that will limit parking to one side of the street. This is being done as a safety precaution.   Boxwood and Holbrook Drives are very narrow. Emergency vehicles cannot get through these streets if needed if cars are parked on both sides.   We appreciate your cooperation.

Fairway Update from Rabbi Daniel Cohen

We are blessed to have numerous kosher establishments in our community. We encourage you to support all of them. Although our efforts at the beginning of the summer to insure the continuation of the kosher meat department at Fairway were successful, unfortunately many people have expressed their frustration with the customer service in the kosher department. We are working with Fairway to improve the situation and ask that you give them a second chance. It would be a win win for our community. I am in direct contact with Dennis Bland, Fairway Meat and Seafood VP and Sebastian Hernandez, local store manager.

Please note information below. More improvements in customer service will be forthcoming.

Do not place meat orders with the mashgiach.  All meat orders should be placed with Don, the meat department manager, who is available every day except Wednesday. You can reach him by calling the store at 203-388-9815. This week, though, Don is away and you can call Sebastian. His direct number is 203-388-9826. His voicemail is active so messages can be left there. He is typically there every day of the week from 7-4 with the exception of Wednesday.

Customer service emails can be sent to info@fairwaymarket.com.

Please stay in touch with your ideas, concerns and feel free to be in touch directly with Sebastian as well. It is in all of our interests for Fairway to succeed. Thank you for your support.

Wishing you and your families a Shana Tova and happy and healthy sweet new year.

Rabbi Daniel Cohen
