A recent email sent to the Rabbi:
"Is it permissible to eat meat this Shabbos since it
occurs during the nine days of mourning?"

Reply: On Shabbos we do not observe the mourning of the
nine days, so you can enjoy meat & wine. However, for
Havdala on Saturday night, it is best not to use grape juice or
wine.  You can use beer, coke or orange juice. If you did use
wine or grape juice, you would give it  to a child to drink.
Through our observance of the mourning of the temple, we
will merit its rebuilding speedily in our days.

 PHOTO CONTEST
Are you going to have the best summer ever?!

One explanation for why the Torah was given in a
desert is that if the Torah can apply in the desert, it can apply anywhere.  No matter what exciting summer plans you may have, there is a Jewish angle.  Find that angle and send us a photo of an inspiring Jewish moment this summer.  Our distinguished panel of celebrity judges will select winning photos.  It can be a picture of anything that has Jewish meaning; the kotel, a chesed project, a flower,
anything.  Include a 3-5 sentence explanation of why this photo has Jewish meaning for you and you may win the grand prize.

Jpeg photos can be sent to jbell@agudathsholom.org
All submissions due by August 25th
Open to 6th through 12th graders

The winning photographer will receive the grand prize and have the opportunity to share their meaningful summer
moment with the shul.  Photos from the contest will be
displayed in Agudath Sholom this coming Fall.  Show us your Camera skills!
Have a great summer,
Your Friendly Panel of Judges
