Chag Sameach/Shabbat Shalom
"Every leaf speaks bliss to me." The words of Emily Bronte characterize the spirit of Sukkot. During the holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, our search for G-d focuses on our experiences in shul and in awe of the Almighty. On Sukkot, we leave our homes and seek the transcendent in nature and the world and develop our love of G-d.  Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan called Sukkot the Walden Pond of the Bible. We shake the lulav and esrog in six directions to affirm God's presence everywhere. We affirm as well that the entire world is charged with the energy of G-d and when we perform his mitzvoth we link Heaven and Earth and infuse the world with his glory. As Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotsk reflected when asked where is
G-d,  he replied, G-d is wherever you let Him in. After the intensity of the high holidays, may we harness these next 8 days to rediscover G-d in our lives and enjoy a chag filled with much joy, community, spirit and inspiration.
Wishing you and your families a Chag sameach!
