Life often amplifies Torah values. Although Mariano Rivera is not Jewish, he is a man of faith. Take a moment to read the article below.  His comments embody the timeless message of finding the blessing in adversity and also accepting G-d's will. Wishing you and your families a

Shabbat Shalom!

Meet Our Fabulous Leaders - This week's featured leaders:

Lauren Schechter - Tot Shabbat

I am a ninth grader at Westhill High School, and a Bi-Cultural Day School Graduate. I became involved in CASYD after two summers of being a counselor for 2 and 3 years olds at Camp Gan Israel in Greenwich. I enjoy coming to shul every week and spending a blissful hour with the children in Tot Shabbat and have loved seeing them grow and come out of their shells throughout the year.

To make a donation in her honor please visit http://youth.cas-stamford.org/tamir

Irene Okun - Tot Shabbat

Hi I'm Irene Okun I run Tot Shabbat. I knew from the time I was a little girl I wanted to be a teacher and that is what I do. I have been teaching for many years and hope to teach for many more. I want to thank all parents for giving me the time on shabbos morning to daven sing and play with your children each one is so special to me.

Robbie Bernstein - Jr. Teen Chat

My name is Robert Bernstein. I work in long island as the head of marketing for  ArenaPromotions.com. I love doing my weekly discussion class because the kids come in eager to learn about the parsha and eat junk food. I greatly enjoyed the synagogue's youth programs as a young lad attending Junior Congregation or the baseball league and am happy that I am still able to be a part of these programs.

To make a donation in his honor please visit http://youth.cas-stamford.org/tamir

Hero, Martyr and Romantic: An Evening in Tribute to Rabbi Akiva

Learn about the life and legacy of Rabbi Akiva in a unique evening of learning and drama. During the period of Sefirat HaOmer, we mourn for the loss of the students of Rabbi Akiva, the legendary Talmudic Sage, but also honor his values and vision.

The evening will consist of two dimensions. Rabbis Daniel Cohen andDavid Walk will lead a text based exploration of some of Rabbi Akiva's most famous insights about Judaism and Tamar Gershberg and friends will dramatize a scene from her original play on Rabbi Akiva the Romantic.

Following the program, the community is invited for light refreshments.

Join us on Tuesday evening, May 22, at Agudath Sholom at 7:30 pm and experience the living legacy of Rabbi Akiva
