PHOTO CONTEST

Are you going to have the best summer ever?!

One explanation for why the Torah was given in a desert is that if the Torah can apply in the desert, it can apply anywhere.  No matter what exciting summer plans you may have, there is a Jewish angle.  Find that angle and send us a photo of an inspiring Jewish moment this summer.  Our distinguished panel of celebrity judges will select winning photos.  It can be a picture of anything that has Jewish meaning; the kotel, a chesed project, a flower, anything.  Include a 3-5 sentence explanation of why this photo has Jewish meaning for you and you may win the grand prize.

Jpeg photos can be sent to jbell@agudathsholom.org

All submissions due by August 25th

Open to 6th through 12th graders

The winning photographer will receive the grand prize and have the opportunity to share their meaningful summer

moment with the shul.  Photos from the contest will be

displayed in Agudath Sholom this coming Fall.  Show us your Camera skills!

Have a great summer,

Your Friendly Panel of Judges

This summer we're going to be learning Mesilat Yesharim/ Path of the Just at Seudah Shlishit each week.  This a classic of ethical philosophy and personality development by the great Jewish thinker, Reb Moshe Chayim Luzatto.   Written in the mid 18th century it remains the most popular Jewish work on Musar or ethics.

This classic really belongs on the bookshelf of every traditional Jewish home and, therefore, rather than handing out sheets every week, we suggest strongly that everyone buy or print their own copy.

English edition (hardcover) available on Amazon.com at $23.07

Paperback on Barnes and Noble for $18.80

Available on line in English for free at

http://www.shechem.org/torah/mesyesh/index.htm

and in Hebrew at:
