Sukkah Weather Update from Rabbi Cohen
Under normal circumstances, a Sukkah may not be dismantled before the end of the holiday. However, halacha reflects the danger from pieces blowing away and allows early dismantling to prevent damage. As the forecast is changing hourly, it is too soon to make this determination. If necessary, I will send out an update by 7 AM Sunday morning with guidance. Please feel free to be in touch with any questions or concerns - rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org Thank you very much. Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach.
Mazal Tov to our Simchat Torah Honorees!
We look forward to sharing in the celebration with them on Simchat Torah morning.

A Tale of Caution for Holiday
Please make sure that if you are leaving an oven or stove top/ blech on for Yom Tov ( or even for Shabbat) that your kitchen is well ventilated and that your carbon monoxide detectors are in good working order.
Without sounding over dramatic, I must thank God that we are even able to tell you this story. We were staying at our daughter's house in West Hempstead and were thankfully awoken Monday night by the Carbon Monoxide sirens and thankfully the six of us( including my pregnant daughter and two young grandchildren) were able to leave the house safely. Three of us needed to be treated at the hospital and were released by daybreak.
Hope that your chag stays happy and SAFE, Jeff Cahn
Sukkah Hop / Progressive Teen Lunch
We hope the weather will hold out and that we can all enjoy our Sukkah Hop/ Meal.
  • If it is raining the hop will be cancelled.
  • The teen progressive lunch will move indoors with a minor exception - Yehuda Meyers will send an email to the Teens with details.

Man Up Class Sunday, October 25 - 9:15 AM
Man Up Class
Join Rabbi Cohen and other pre-Bar Mitzvah fathers and seventh grade boys to discuss what our tradition teaches us about becoming a man. Each session will cover a unique aspect of a Bar Mitzvah's new responsibilities in the world, and Rabbi Cohen will bring relevant sources to stimulate discussion. The three topics will be: (1) who am I, and what are my responsibilities as an individual? (2) who am I, and what are my responsibilities in my family? (3) who am I, and what are my responsibilities in my local community, Jewish people and the world? This is a great opportunity for fathers and sons to bond and grow in preparation for their Bnai Mitzvah. Final Bonus will be dinner at 613.
Matan Class Sunday, October 25 - 9:30 AM
