Title: What the Dead Sea Scrolls Can Tell Us About the Torah

The Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in the 1940s, contain the oldest Hebrew manuscripts of the Bible that we have--by quite a few centuries! Less well known is the fact that they also contain a good bit of biblical commentary, ancient reflections on the Torah as it was understood by a somewhat quirky group of Jews in the second and first centuries B.C.E.

WOMAN'S SCHOLAR SERIES WITH MIRIAM KRUPKA

 February-March

Join us for a five class series on the five Megillot.  Each class will analyze one Megillah's religious themes, literary structures, philosophical elements and methodologies, as well as an overview and comparison of the books as a whole.  Ms. Miriam Krupka has taught Tanakh/Biblical Studies for six years at the Ramaz Upper School.  

Women and men are welcome to attend

 

Dates: February 22 and 29, and on March 14, 21 and 28 at 8 P.M. 

The charge for the five part series is $50 per person and $75 per couple.
