Shabbat Shalom
We hope you and your families are well.

We are grateful for the increased distribution of vaccines in our community. Please see the letter below and reach out if the shul can offer support in any way. Receiving the vaccine is an opportunity to express our gratitude, not only to the medical community, but to God. According to Halacha one may recite the blessing of Hatov VeHametiv, thanking God who is good and brings good or Shecheyanu, thanking God for reaching this moment. The texts can be found here and for a spiritual consultation as to which blessing is best for you, please contact me at rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org.

Thank God, our capital improvements are well underway and we are making amazing progress. Thank you to Rachel Dayan, our building chair, and the building committee for their wise and dedicated leadership of the process. If you would like to invest in the project with a gift, please contact me at rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org or our capital chairs, Shush Yasgur (shush.walshe@gmail.com) or Harvey Kaminski (hlkaminski@gmail.com).

With winter here, it is more important than ever to deepen our commitment to spreading light and supporting people in our community. You may receive updates for timely mitzvah moments by joining our growing WhatsApp group.

We are excited to share information in our bulletin about the Life and Legacy Program in partnership with the United Jewish Federation of Stamford and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. To join the growing ranks of CAS members committed to this eternal project, contact Rabbi Cohen or Elissa Klapper.

This Shabbat, join us for one of the two Shabbat morning minyanim at 7 and 9 am. Jr Cong, BMC and Teen Minyan will be meeting this Shabbat. We will continue to offer outdoor mincha and maariv next week. For up to date info, join the CAS Outdoor Minyan WhatsApp group

Thank you for your partnership and wishing you and your family a Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

Agudath Sholom and the Life & Legacy Initiative

Agudath Sholom is proud to be one of more than 680 Jewish organizations across North America that have secured over 1 billion dollars in legacy commitments to ensure a bright Jewish future.

To date, our collaboration with 10 other Stamford organizations, United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation's LIFE & LEGACY initiative, has led 97 donors just like you to commit gifts of over 4 million dollars to local organizational endowments.

Without writing a check today, you too can do your part to help the Agudath Sholom build our endowment and help build the endowments of the other Jewish organizations in our community you value, so we can weather turbulent times like these and adapt to meet evolving community needs.

This is a very simple process, and when Agudath Sholom reaches our first goal of 18 -25 Letters of Intent, we will receive a financial incentive grant that can be used immediately for any synagogue need.

Join our members who have already signed letters of intent. We are deeply appreciative of their commitment to Agudath Sholom!

Special Presentation With World Renowned Epidemiologist Dr. Michael Edelstein
Monday, February 8 - 10:00 AM
Lessons Learned in the Fight Against COVID-19 A Conversation with Epidemiologist Michael Edelstein on the COVID crisis

1) What cultural differences explain the varying degrees of vaccine acceptance around the world?
2) What will the real new normal look like in the foreseeable future?
3) What would be the most effective means of disbursing a vaccine?
4) In today's world of increased travel - and also increased exposure to previously remote environments - is there a greater risk of future pandemics?

Professor Michael Edelstein is a UK-trained Public health physician who specializes in infectious disease and vaccine epidemiology. He joined Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Medicine, based in Safed, as associate professor, in August 2020. Prior to joining Bar-Ilan University, Professor Edelstein was one of the senior medical epidemiologists responsible for England's national immunization program. He was also a member of England's national COVID-19 surveillance team.
