Three Quotes for Reflection

I look forward to resuming the Shabbat Message, God wiling, next week but want to share these quotes from last Shabbat (the first two from the sermon and third cited by Rabbi Yossi Kamman at Seudah Shlishit in on the occasion of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's 25th Yaarzeit). Each one is worthy of reflection and discussion.

1. The next time before you speak, THINK:

T - Is it True?

H - Is it Helpful?

I - Is it Inspiring?

N - Is it Necessary?

K - Is it Kind?

Treat your words like gold. They're more valuable than you think!

Mordechai Lewis

2. "Raise your word, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder." Rumi

3. From Gd are man's steps established." Every one of Israel has a spiritual mission in life - which is to occupy himself with the work of construction, to make a "dwelling-place" for Gd. Every one, regardless of his station or location, must, through an exhaustive search, seek out a spiritual livelihood with all the intensity of his strength, just as he seeks a material livelihood. - The Lubavitcher Rebbe

Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

CAS and St. Bridget's Partnership

It was a pleasure partnering again with St. Bridgets to collect over 8000 items delivered to Undies Project, Salvation Army and JFS. God willing, the message of Two Faiths/One Heart will continue to deepen and grow! We received this letter from Rich Caparo, Co-Chair of CAS and St. Bridget's Partnership

To All Partnership Members,

Our Special Event held on Sunday, June 23 was a huge success that was attended by so many wonderful people representing our Two Faiths on a beautiful day. Many people worked very hard to make this happen and we thank each and every person.

If you looked around the Church Hall on Sunday, you probably noticed many conversations, much laughter and people just having plain fun. It was so special as people were chatting about Rabbi Cohen's questions and just getting to know each other and enjoying fantastic food.

We were very fortunate to receive over 8000 items from the people of St. Bridget and CAS. The items have been delivered to Undies Project, Salvation Army and JFS. There will be many happy families as a result of the generosity of many people.

Reflecting on this Special Event, the message of Two Faiths/One Heart will live into the future. Jane's inspiration to put those words together as our theme will never be forgotten.

We look forward to many future events -Two Faiths/One Heart.

Enjoy the Summer!

Best regards,

Rich Caparo

  • BACK TO SCHOOL SHOP, INC is an all-volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to enable every child to have access to the basic school clothing and supplies they need and in doing so to help build the confidence and enthusiasm necessary for a successful school year. Since the first Back to School Shop event in 2015, over 850 children have been outfitted for school. Each summer before the start of the new school year, we operate a one-day pop-up store where economically disadvantaged elementary school children can shop for brand new school clothes and supplies. While the children are shopping with volunteer personal shoppers, their parents can visit the on-site Japha Family Resource Center where 20 community organizations will be on hand to provide information about important community services. Each year nearly 250 community volunteers come together to make this special day happen for Stamford children. Visit www.backtoschoolshop.org for more information, to make a donation, or to register to volunteer for our 5th Anniversary event on July 28!
