Shabbat Shalom!

What is the definition of leadership? The answer emerges from a missing letter in this week's Parsha of Vayakhel. The princes of the tribes of Israel donate the precious stones to the Tabernacle. In describing their gift, the Torah records their Hebrew name - "Neseim" without a yud. Rashi quoting the midrash notes that the letter is missing to reflect their deficient attitude. Rather than be the first to donate and set an example, they waited to ascertain the actions of the Jewish people and would fill in as needed.  Leadership mandates leading.
This past week, over 12,000 Jews and non-Jews gathered in Washington at AIPAC to lead on bolstering the American/Israeli alliance. Consider joining our CAS delegation next year in Washington. Anyone who goes to www.aipac.org/PC and registers for next year's conference by March 18
th will receive a significant discount off the normal registration fee. The registration fee is 100% refundable until January 10th, 2014.

Experience this year's conference highlights and full plenary session by clicking here
G-d willing, together, we will demonstrate the leadership to insure a vibrant and secure Israel.

APRIL  12-13 JUNIOR YACHAD SHABBATON

Junior Yachad will once again be coming to Stamford!  Yachad, the National Jewish Council for Disabilities, is dedicated to addressing the needs of all individuals with disabilities and including them in the Jewish community. Volunteers are needed for housing. All Yachad members are matched up with a staff member who will be responsible for them. The kids have varying degrees of abilities and disabilities including a wide range of developmental and learning disabilities, such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Asperger's and cerebral palsy, in general they are mild mannered.  They can stay in either separate bedrooms or the same bedroom as a staff member. There might be one or two girls in a wheelchair. Please let me know how many you can sleep and if you have stairs or pets.

No meals needed other than breakfast.

They will be out of the house Friday night for dinner and most of Shabbat.

If you are not able to pick up your "kids" that Friday from CAS, drop them back at shul before Shabbat, and pick them up after Shabbat, please let me know. Times to be determined.  Please include your address and phone number as well in your response.

Thanks in advance!!!

Bingo Needs You!

CAS Monday night Bingo needs some more volunteers (especially callers) in order to continue our efforts to raise money for special projects. In the past, we've donated new carpeting, warmers for the kitchens and a new dairy refrigerator, among other items in use today.

This a "fun-draising" project that only involves your volunteering without costing you anything but a few hours of your time. We're very flexible with hours and there are all kinds of "jobs." Be it clerical, selling or especially calling, the only requisite is that you like people and have a warm, friendly disposition. We will train you and we need you more than Uncle Sam does!

For further info, contact Roz Mangot at roz@cas-stamford.org, and thanks in advance!
