We hope you and your families are well!

Thank you to everyone who has responded to our upcoming Annual Dinner on May 23rd. It is our most significant fundraiser of the year and your investment makes a difference!

Your partnership is a vital way to say thank you to our worthy honorees who exemplify the best of people in our community who instilled light in challenging times. Mazal Tov to our honorees and their families - frontline physicians Dr. Jason Fischel, Dr. Eric Jankelovits, Dr. Sam Maryles, Dr. Richard Morgulis, Dr. Rachel Biller Redlich, Dr. Steven Thau and firefighters Michal Cohen and Max Maron. To sign up, click here.

We are excited to continue to offer more ways to engage our community and welcome more people back to CAS this coming Shabbat and beyond. Last week's youth pre Friday night event in the tent and Meet and Greet at 5th Street playgrounds were a huge success and we hope to plan others in May.

A light COVID safe kiddush with pastries from Beldottis and various salads and proteins from Soosh will be served following all minyanim outdoors behind the chapel. There will be four minyanim Shabbat morning at 7 AM, 8 AM, two 9 AM minyanim. Contact Kiim (kmahoney@cas-stamford.org) to sponsor a kiddush.

We thank Kate and Peretz Cik for hosting a Meet and Greet for newcomers to the area. If you would like more info, please contact Kate at kate.frommer@gmail.com.

This week's Shabbat Youth Schedule is below and stay tuned for a special youth fundraiser in partnership with Beldotti's bakery in anticipation of Shavuot. Tot Shabbat: 11-11:30 in chapel, Mini minyan: 11-11:30 in Simcha room, Junior Cong 11-12 in lobby and BMC 10-11 outside the chapel.

This weekend, we look forward to our Pirkei Avot studying. Marisa Kurtz will lead a class for women at 4 PM at the home of Dena Block, 37 Boxwood Drive, and Rabbi Kurtz will lead a class in shul on Shabbat afternoon between mincha and maariv. Join Rabbi Yossi Kamman for a pre Shabbat mincha class on the Code of Jewish Law.

Finally, join us this Sunday for a pre-Yom Yerushalayim presentation with Yael Leibowitz at 10:00 AM on Miracles and Metaphors. Yom Yerushalayim, the day celebrating the reunification of Jerusalem, is on the 28th of Iyar, Monday, May 9th.

May we share good news the days ahead. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

The best way to walk to 613 from Bedford is up Hoyt Street and turn right on Prospect. For more eruv info visit http://www.cas-stamford.org/eruv.html or contact Rabbi Cohen, Rabbi Kohl or Michael Warmflash.

  • THREE-PART SERIES ON THE CONVERSO AND LATINO CONNECTION TO ISRAEL Begins on Sunday, April 25th at 1:00 PM. The perfect programming for older religious school students and adults alike, this compelling story of the Sephardic experience begins hundreds of years ago with the Jews of the Iberian Peninsula. This was a profound period of persecution, pogroms, and forced conversions (conversos). However, it was also a time of hope and survival with many of the converso community seeking to hold on to their Jewish traditions in secret, thus creating the Crypto-Jewish phenomenon wherein many descendants of the conversos are making their way back to their Jewish roots, and some are returning to the land of Israel after more than 500 years in hiding. The registration link is: https://www.jnf.org/converso
