KUMSITZ ON SATURDAY NIGHT  
For those who want to find out how to help New Orleans and have fun while they're at it, Rabbi Uri will lead a kumsitz, after Shabbat, on Jan. 16, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the home of the Bodurtha familyat 52 Starin Drive in Westover Park, Stamford.   Expect soulful music by Rabbi Uri and sinful desserts by Main Event. 1. WEEKEND OF REBIRTH AND RENEWAL Friday, Jan. 15th & Saturday Jan.16th  Learn the story of rebuilding the Jewish community in New Orleans with Rabbi Uri Topolosky.  Friday night Carlebach-style davening and dinner.  Reservations due 1/12-RSVP to jbell@cas-stamford.org.  Rabbi Topolosky will speak at one minyan to be held on Shabbat.

¨ GUEST SPEAKER-RABBI URI TOPOLOSKY OF NEW ORLEANS-Friday & Saturday, January 15th-16th. 6:00 p.m.  A weekend of rebirth and renewal.  Carlebach style davening on Friday night, with dinner to follow.  Adults $25 Children $15.  If you want to sponsor, it's $180 which includes dinner. RSVP to the shul by Jan.12th. There will be one minyan on that Shabbat.

¨ MLK EVENT-Monday, January 18th at 7:00 p.m. An intercommunity gathering to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.      The featured speaker is Glenn Richter, founder of the Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry.  The theme is "From We Shall Overcome to Let  My People Go." The evening will also feature Jewish & black choirs & prayers.

¨ CAS Young Families Ice Cream Pajama Party, Saturday, January 23, 7 pm  Back by popular demand: ice cream and games galore. Break up the doldrums of January with a hot, "summer" evening of fun!  $7/person in advance; $8/person at the door.

¨ BIKUR CHOLIM-Sunday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m. OU and Chevra Kadisha of Stamford offer a FREE Communal Symposium on "Visiting the Sick."  A Halachic overview of Bikur Cholim for the whole community.  Presentations by Rabbi Daniel Feldman & Rabbi Simon Feld. ¨ STAMFORD ERUV ASSOCIATION-Sunday, January 31st at 10:30 a.m.  At the Young Israel of Stamford.  Everything you ever wanted to know about the Stamford Eruv, a program that will feature a presentation by the Stamford Eruv Association President, Arthur Smith who will discuss the specific boundaries of the Eruv and how it was constructed. Rabbi Yosef Gavriel Bechhofer, the author of "The Contemporary Eruv" will discuss some of the specific halachot relating to eruv.
