Matan Program Begins This Sunday

 

Due to the inclement weather, 

The Matan Bat Mitzvah program will hold its first session on 

 Sunday morning 

November 6, 2011-9:30-11:00 a.m. 

Sunday mornings 9:30-11:00 a.m.

The Matan Program will meet will meet on succeeding Sundays 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. as well 

 

The fee will be $175.00 for Congregation Agudath Sholom members and $250.00 for non-members.

 

Michal Smart will again be teaching the Matan program this year.

'Palestine' was voted in as a member of UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) - the first UN agency to bestow full membership upon the not-yet defined 'Palestine'.

As a result of the vote, the United States, as required by law passed during the Clinton Administration, will cut off some $70 million in funding to UNESCO, or more than 20% of its annual budget.

Some members of CAS have already joined the protest to UNESCO's Director-General Irina Bokova. If you have not signed the petition, we urge you to do so and to forward to your family and friends, http://www.wiesenthal.com

 

ADL: Advocating for Israel in Changing Times: Countering the Assault on Israel's Legitimacy

 

Thursday, November 10, 2011, select Jewish community leaders and Israel advocates from around the state will join together for this unique opportunity to address with ADL, along with our statewide JCRC's and Federations, the new threats facing Israel in today's world. 

The training will take place from 3:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the JCC of Greater New Haven in Woodbridge.  Pre-registration is required and there is an $18 fee per person that will include materials and kosher dinner.  Please contact Randi Pincus at rpincus@adl.org or (203) 288-6500, ext. 317 for more information and  Registration .
