Shabbat Shalom

This Shabbat is known as the Shabbat of comfort, Shabbat Nachamu. However, the recovery from the trauma of Tisha B'Av begins on the evening itself. We do not lose hope in our future. We believe that the Messiah will be born on that day. This past Monday night in our shul, I sensed the reverberations of our future as well. At the end of the davening, we showed a montage dedicated to the memories of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali. It featured this video clip www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcIiqPw-k0E. Thank you to Rabbi Walk for developing the montage and Elisheva Cohen for posting on You Tube.

Although the hour was late, a couple of hundred people stayed, eyes mesmerized and souls in tune with both the tragedy of Tisha B'av and the strength and hope of our people. I sensed in those moments a unity of spirit. I felt something deep inside everyone present, a bond to the nation, state and people of Israel. A calling for Am Yisrael. A yearning to be one people in the land of Israel in peace speedily in our days.

May the days ahead offer comfort to the Jewish people and state of Israel and the families of the fallen and wounded in Israel. May we share happy occasions together very soon.

Thank G-d, this weekend, we celebrate three upcoming weddings on Sunday. Mazal Tov to the Bokows, Alexanders and Steins.

Wishing everyone a Shabbat Shalom and good news from Israel in the week ahead,
Rabbi Daniel Cohen

Please celebrate with Cantor Bokow The Congregation is invited to Cantor Bokow's Aufruf. His aliyah will be in the Sanctuary Service between 10:15 & 10:30.

SUPPORT THE IDF

IDF soldiers on the frontlines are exhibiting unparalleled bravery, risking their lives to protect the country that they - and we - love.

These are the times where the brave men and women defending the Jewish homeland need us the most. And FIDF is the only official organization raising funds in the United States in coordination with the IDF for the wellbeing of Israel's soldiers.

The immediate needs are still snack packages for Shabbat (sponsor 10 soldiers-$180), Toiletry kits (sponsor 10 soldiers-$360) and undergarment bags (sponsor 10 soldiers-$500).Every dollar counts. Every household counts. The soldiers need to know that WE CARE!!! Another thing that people should know is that 100% of their donations go to the soldiers!!! 100%.

To support the soldiers please go to www.FIDF.org
