STOP THE SIRENS - ISRAEL EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN
In light of current situation in Israel, I would like to share this timely and important message from our Federation.

Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Daniel Cohen

Together, we can try and ease the impact of missile attacks on the lives of children and families living under their blare.

Hamas' upgraded military capabilities put the vast majority of Israel's population within range of rocket fire.

Tuesday night thousands of children were read bedtime stories in bomb shelters. Together we can take them out of harm's way for a day of normal play.

Wednesday, the Nachum family in Netivot emerged from their home bomb shelter-only to find that their house was destroyed. Only when Federation funds come together can we provide the Nachums, and thousands of victims of terror like them, with the money and support to begin rebuilding.

And this morning, the 15 second warning siren that rang out in Be'er Sheva, was not long enough for a 70 -year old wheelchair bound resident to make it to a shelter. So for now, she must live in one. Federation partner programs are her sole lifeline to food and medicine and human contact.

During every time of hostility or need, in virtually every town in Israel, every day, you will find a piece of Federation at work. Helping those who need it the most. Making sure no one falls through the cracks.

Let's send a message of support together and give as a community.

How Will the Resources Be Used?

Federation dollars allocated in this emergency campaign immediately will impact lives all across Israel.

Relief from the Line of Fire for 20,000 Children This Week

For the tens of thousands of children who live within 25 miles of Gaza, the current situation is not a flare-up. They have spent the last 13 years under fire. Our partner agencies are teaming up to provide them with much-needed time away in summer camps and youth villages far from the line of fire.

Help for 20,000 of Israel's Most Vulnerable Citizens

In normal times, Federation-supported senior centers provide thousands of elderly living in poverty-many of them Holocaust survivors-with food and comfort. Today, it's too dangerous for them to travel.

For new immigrants, lack of familiarity with a new environment and language barriers make living through the constant barrage of attacks even more traumatic.

Our partners are deploying a host of caseworkers to bring food, medicine and comfort to the elderly in their homes, and to alleviate the fears and concerns of new Israelis at home, in shelters and in community centers.

Trauma Support for 12,000 Israelis

Where do you spend the night when your home is destroyed? What is the psychological impact on the most vulnerable when nearly all Israelis are within range of rocket fire? Federation programs that provide psychological, emotional and spiritual counseling fill in the gaps when government programs aren't enough.

Flexible Assistance for 10 Communities Hit Hardest by the Conflict

Local municipalities are at the forefront of managing community services and responses to attacks. Federation has deep partnerships with these cities, and targeted local assistance helps bridge the gap between government aid and needs, enhancing the resilience of their populations.

Let's send a message of support together and give as a community.

CAS HIGH HOLIDAY SERVICES & SEATING

This year we are announcing several changes in the High Holiday Service and Seating Policy. Please read this carefully, as your action is required:
  • In addition to our Sanctuary and Heyman Chapel Services, we will hold Shacharit and Musaf services in the Library on Rosh Hashanah (starting each day at 6 am) and Yom Kippur (starting at 9 am).
  • Reserved seating will be available in all three services. To reserve a seat, members must be in good standing and either purchase a reserved seat for $300 or become a member of our Tzedakah program.
  • Members of our Tzedakah program are entitled to a seat for themselves, their spouse, and any children under age 25. If Tzedakah program members require seats for children over age 25 or visiting relatives, we are reverting to a former policy requiring payment for these seats. We have reduced the charge for these additional seats to $75 for each ticket for the first four tickets, $50 for each ticket for the fifth or more.
  • To comply with appropriate safety codes, we are limiting the Chapel Main floor seating to 214 and the Library seating to 75. These limits will be strictly enforced.
  • New seating charts for all three services, and the Balcony of the Heyman Chapel are available on-line.
  • To implement these changes, your action is required to confirm reserved seating for the High Holidays:
    • 2013 Tzedakah Program members (members in good standing and those who paid $550 or more for the Tzedakah Program):
      • You will receive a confirmation email showing your confirmed seats as outlined above. This will not include reserved seats for children over the age 25 or visiting relatives.
      • You have until August 1, 2014 to confirm or change your reserved seat location and purchase additional reserved seats. You can purchase 2014 additional reserved seats based on your 2013 reservation. To reserve a seat, payment is required.
      • If seating limits in any service are exceeded, we will offer alternative locations in other Services.
    • New paid 2014 Tzedakah Program members and others requesting reserved seats
      • We would like to accommodate your needs. Please contact the office to request a seat by location in any service and we will keep your name on a waiting list.
      • By August 30, we will notify you if we can confirm your seat. Payment is required on confirmation.
