This Saturday night and Sunday is Yom Yerushalayim, celebrating the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 and the miracle of the Six Day War. Join us on Sunday morning at the minyan for Hallel with a bracha.

We are excited to announce the recipients of this year's awards at our annual meeting on Wednesday evening, June 22nd. Suzannah Coll will receive the George and Ziporah Freedberg Hineni Award and Yolly & Yaakov Faratci will receive the George and Ziporah Freedberg Excellence in Spirit Award. Mazal Tov to all of them and thank you to Rhoda and Avi Freedberg for endowing these annual awards.

Indoor Masking Update  In accordance with the policies of the City of Stamford, the following is now in effect at CAS:
  • Masks are optional in the CAS building, regardless of age or vaccination status.
  • While not required, we recommend those who are unvaccinated continue to wear a mask.
  • The first section of the Men's and Women's Balconies are reserved for Masks Only.

  • AGUDATH SHOLOM HONORED TO WELCOME THE MILLSTONE SCHOLARS PROGRAM NEXT FALL! Orientation Breakfast on Sunday, June 12th at 9:15 AMThe Millstone Scholars program is an in-person selective new educational and leadership initiative of the Tikvah Fund for public school and private school 7th and 8th grade students. A pilot cohort will launch next Fall at Agudath Sholom. Millstone Scholars is an Honors Program in which participants meet locally in their communities and participate in seminars with significant thinkers and leaders around topics such as Zionism and Israel, Jewish thought, and the nexus between those ideas and American democracy. The purpose of the program is to forge the next generation of American Jews who will step into High School and onto College campuses as young people confident in their identities and in the robustness of their heritage. Orientation Breakfast on Sunday, June 12th at 9:15 AM at CAS with Rabbi Cohen and Rabbi Ungar from Tikvah.We are seeking student nominations to become Millstone Scholars. CAS Youth News
Attention all CAS Youth 4th grade and up:  Have you ever wanted to see your artwork come to life? Submit a photo of your design for the mezuzah for Yolly and Yaakov to Jessica Sosnovich (jessica.sosnovich@gmail.com) and please deliver the actual artwork to the CAS Office by 5pm, Tuesday, May 31st. Don't forget to put your name on the back of your artwork!

You will all get to vote and the top 3 designs will win the following prizes:
  • 1st Place: the winning artist's work will be made into a ceramic mezuzah for Yolly and Yaakov's new home in Israel
  • 2nd Place: a pair of Apple air pods
  • 3rd Place: a gift certificate to 613 Restaurant

Attention All CAS Youth: We are also making a book of thank you cards. Please have your child(ren) make a card for Yolly and Yaakov. These cards will be bound into a book. Cards should be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper (any color) and can be dropped off at the shul office until Tuesday, May 31st.

  • SUNDAY SOCIAL STROLLS - A SOCIAL GROUP FOR WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS Beginning Sunday, June 12th at 11:00 AM. Initiating plans can seem daunting for a grieving widow or widower which is why Schoke Jewish Family Service is introducing a new social group - Sunday Social Strolls beginning on Sunday, June 12th. The new group will bring together people who are grieving the loss of their spouse and trying to build the next chapter of their life. Each week the group will meet at 11:00 AM on Sundays for either a lovely walk through one of Connecticut's many parks or for a fun activity like a picnic, art class, and bowling.
  • SAR AND ATMOSPHERE ACADEMIES PROUDLY PRESENT A SCREENING OF A DOCUMENTARY FILM, NAMES NOT NUMBERS , featuring the stories of 8 survivors, presented by 8th grade students.   • NEW JEWISH SENIOR SERVICES HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING DATES Chaifetz Family Hospice will be holding a 2-Day Hospice Training for people interested in giving their time and compassion to JSS clients in Fairfield County. Training will be held at Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT on Sunday June 12th from 9am-5:00pm and Sunday June 26th from 9am-5:00 pm (June 26th session might be via zoom).Training materials and meals will be provided free of charge.   • STAMFORD CHEVRA KADISHA SPONSORED SCHOKE JFS BEREAVEMENT GROUPS Schoke JFS with a grant provided by the Stamford Chevra Kadisha has expanded the Kuriansky Family Counseling support programming for those who might need assistance before, during, or after the loss of a loved one.
