Shabbat Shalom

We hope everyone experienced a meaningful Yom Kippur. God willing, all of our prayers will be answered for the good in the coming year. Thank you so much to all of the Chazanim, Baalei Keryiah and all of the volunteers for enhancing the high holidays.

The days between Yom Kippur and Sukkot are some of the holiest of the year. The Vilna Gaon explains that God removed the clouds of glory from protecting the Jewish people following the sin of the golden calf. He restored them after He forgave them on Yom Kippur. For this reason, we celebrate Sukkot during this season for the Sukkah is reminiscent of the clouds of glory and God's protection. The four days reflect God's love and our gift back to God is how we respond. Take a few minutes this Shabbat to insure actualization of your spiritual pledges during the holidays. God willing, we will feel Hashem in our lives, but only to the extent that we open up the door and let Him in.

Thank you in advance for supporting our Kol Nidrei Appeal. Your support means a lot and makes a difference. Click here to join in. Please join the sponsors of our Simchat Torah luncheon here.

We are excited to announce this year's Simchat Torah honorees and look forward to celebrating with them in the holidays ahead: Chatan Torah - Carl Kaufman; Chatan Beresihit - Glenn Reicin; Kol Hanearim - David Ariyeh; Chatan Maftir - Bob Abrams; and Keter Torah - Jessica Furmansky.

Please join us this Shabbat at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary as we express our gratitude to the Stamford EMS and share with them a small token of our appreciation and blessings for the new year. The Sanctuary minyan will be ruach filled and led by Omer Neumeier. Join for an Oneg with Dovi Siderson in the 5th Street Park at 4:00 PM.

Finally, save the date of October 23rd for our Torah dedication at 11 AM which is open to the entire community! If you would like to join the host committee, please email me by October 10th.

Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach!

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

Message from Judith Bernstein: For our next meeting, we'll be watching 1959's Some Like it Hot starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. It's available to rent on Amazon Prime and from the library. Even if you've watched it before I strongly urge everyone to watch it again with a critical eye and come prepared to discuss it like you've never done before! For this month we're asking each person to choose one scene and come prepared to discuss something about it that you noticed - costume, lighting, themes, etc. For more info, contact me at judith82@gmail.com.
