The Shabbat meal is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our families, community and connection to G-d. The Around the Shabbat Table Campaign encourages each family to include three elements at their meal: 1. Share a Torah Insight 2. Sing a Jewish Song 3. Refrain from Gossip-Celebrate Positive Speech Suggested Torah topic for your Shabbat table: The commentators pint out that, at first, Jacob places many rocks under his head. Yet when he rises in the morning, the Torah refers to them as "the rock" in the singular. The rocks became unified during the night. What does this transformation symbolize? This week's riddle: Name specific holiday occasions when the "Shehecheyanu" blessing is recited during the year? Special note: Those who submit a list of 15 or more correct occasions to Mr. S or the office by noon Sunday, Nov 29th will receive a gift from Israel when Mr. S. returns. Last week's riddle: The Shmoneh Esrey contains different numbers of blessing depending upon the day & service. Which number is never the number of blessings -7, 9, 18, 19, 20? Last week's riddle answer: Though Shmoneh Esray means 18, this is not the actual number of blessings at any time during the year. There are 7 blessings on Shabbat, Yom Kippur & Yom Tov: 9 on Rosh Hashanah: 19 on ordinary week days: and 20 when the Cantor repeats the Amidah on fast days. Thank you to Mr. S for the weekly riddles. WELCOME TO ALL OUR COLLEGE STUDENT THAT ARE HERE AT CAS FOR THE HOLIDAY.
