Shabbat Shalom

This Shabbat all minyanim will be indoors. Please note the COVID protocols below.

Thank God, Israel is slowly opening up again for tourists in the months ahead and we pray for good news in the months ahead for all of us. We are blessed to host a meal with Stamford students and see some of our Agudath Sholom friends as well. We will be at the Kotel God willing on Sunday and if you have names for us to have in mind for Tefillot, please send them to me by Motzei Shabbat.

We look forward next Shabbat to welcoming scholar Rabbi Todd Berman, who will be speaking at the 10:30 AM shiur and in between mincha and maariv. Rabbi Todd Berman is the Director of Institutional Advancement at Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi.

Please visit our website for information on all the various upcoming events and pick up a grocery bag on Shabbat to fill with food for our Person-to-Person Food Drive.

If you have not done so already, please sign up to volunteer for UJF's Super Sunday here and of course, graciously respond to the campaign.

Finally, we are deeply appreciative of the over 25 people who have signed up as Legacy donors for the first year of the Life and Legacy Program in partnership with the Stamford UJF and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Join us on Shabbat Chanukah morning, December 4th for Legacy Shabbat as we honor our first year Legacy leaders.

Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom from Israel,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

Indoor Masking Update  In accordance with the policies of the City of Stamford, the following is now in effect at CAS:
  • Vaccinated adults are not required to wear masks while inside the building.
  • Unvaccinated adults are required to wear masks at all times while inside the building.
  • Children, group leaders and parents who go into groups must wear masks inside the building while in groups. Vaccinated teens may choose not to wear a mask.
  • During indoor kiddushim, unvaccinated children and adults should continue to wear masks unless they are eating.
  • The new city guidelines still encourage Stamford residents to take reasonable precautions to stay safe, in particular recommending that all eligible people get vaccinated. See StamfordCT.gov for details.

Thank You We express our profound gratitude to everyone who has contributed thus far to our Yom Kippur appeal. Your investment as a believer in Agudath Sholom speaks to the depth of our commitment to each other to insure the long term growth of our shul. If you have not done so already, please join them using the link below.

Making Mitzvah Moments Update - Welcoming New Members  We are thrilled that Agudath Sholom has welcomed so many new families to our community with over 60 people in attendance at our brunch recently. We are grateful to all of the families who volunteer to host new members throughout the year who joined our "Hospitality" crew. If you would like to be involved in welcoming people in alternative ways to shabbat hosting, we also have people who meet new members for coffee in the week, deliver welcome packs, or phone them to check how they're settling in. If this is something you might like to get involved in, we'd also love to hear from you! Please contact Hilary Goldenberg at goldenberg.hilary@gmail.com or Rabbi Cohen for more info.

Making Mitzvah Moments Update - Healing Visits  The healing visits team is a CAS group who visit people in the hospital, facilities or at home. It is a meaningful way to lift people's spirits and make a difference. You can offer as much time as you have for each person. Every week we send out a healing visit update. To join the team, contact Rabbi Cohen at rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org.

To learn about other mitzvah opportunities, join our Making Mitzvah Moments Whats App group.

CAS Announcements
  • EMS FIRST RESPONDERS AND CAS THANKSGIVING Once again the CAS Men's Club is spearheading a fun event / activity that the Stamford EMS squads have come to rely on. There are four to five EMS teams that will come to the station house at free moments for the lunch we provide on Thanksgiving!

We are looking for volunteers to help prepare the food on Thanksgiving morning from 9 - 11 am at CAS. We are also looking for donors for food. We need: 3 kosher Turkeys, stuffing, sweet potatoes, salad items, cranberry sauce, and vegetables such as green beans, and cauliflower plus aluminum pans to put the finished items in.

This in no way should reduce our efforts to collect for the Freedberg Family Kosher Food Panty but should be an additional mitzvah. This should be a fun event involving teens as well as older individuals.
