A World of One You may not change the world, but you can change the world of one person. We are in the season of Purim. More than any other holiday, Purim emphasizes the power of one person to make a difference. In the critical juncture in the story, it is Esther's fate to plead with Achashverosh for the safety of her people. She is reticent as the risk of death is great for anyone who enters the king's chambers without permission would be killed. During this moment of truth, Mordechai tells her, "Who knows if for this time you were chosen to be the queen." Perhaps Esther's entire purpose in this position of influence was for this opportunity. She must rise to the occasion. In essence, every encounter with another person can be transformed into an eternal one. There is no meeting that is random. When we are faced with an opportunity to speak up, perform a kind deed, a mitzvah, it is God's way of calling on us to make an impact and make a difference. It is the secret of leading a meaningful life. In the words of Mark Twain, "The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you understand why." God orchestrates many of these moments. It is our sacred task to infuse them with holiness. In his book Spirituality of Imperfection, Ernest Kurtz speaks to this idea. I am grateful to Howard Fogel for recommending this book. He writes, "Past the seeker, as he prayed, came the crippled and the beggar and the beaten. And seeing them, the holy one went down into deep prayer and cried, "Great God, how is it that a loving creator can see such things and yet do nothing about them?" And out of the long silence, God said: "I did do something about them. I created you." This year in particular, it is important to be mindful of the Rambam's reminder of the primacy of Matanot L'evyonim. I encourage you to consider some of the ways in which we can increase the joy and support this year for our brothers and sisters in Israel. We are created to serve God and humanity. We are designed to reveal the light inside of us every day and share it with the world. Each person is a world in and of themselves. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom and God willing good news from Israel in the days ahead, Rabbi Daniel Cohen |

Israel MEALuim Update - Our Support Matters! To Join the Mitzvah, visit https://tzohar-eng.org/mealuim/
Rabbi Cohen-- Your community's participation in MEALuim has made a significant difference in the lives of IDF miluim families. Especially now, as the war has extended into almost 4 months, the absence of a spouse and parent is even more profound and difficult. The homefront has become one of the more important places where we need to place our support. Overall we have thus far provided over 5000 meals to hundreds of families.Using Tzohar's strong connection we have been able to identify and serve those most affected by their soldier's absence and with limited local support. We have focused on ten yishuvim, and sporadic individual families.15 Agudath Sholom Congregation members participated thus far, donating 418 meals. The recipients of these meals were primarily families in Katamonim Jerusalem, an area with many young men in miluim. Yasher Koach!! Please deepen and expand the support! Am Yisrael Chai
