We are looking forward to celebrating virtually with everyone this Sunday at 11:00 AM EST at Elisheva and Yaakov Moshe's wedding and God willing next Shabbat in person. The link for the live stream is https://livestream.com/bti/elisheva-yaakovmoshe. This Shabbat we read Achrei Mot outside of Israel and Kedoshim in Israel. The lack of alignment in Torah portions is due to the last day of Pesach in the Diaspora being a regular Shabbat in Israel. However, the two parshiyot are always juxtaposed and capture a timeless message. We mourn the tragedies in life, but must never lose faith in the eternality of the Jewish people. Moving on is not leaving loved ones behind and forgetting, but living lives dedicated to infusing the world with their values and vision. The transition between Yom Hazikaron - Israel Memorial Day - and Yom Haatzmaut - Israel Independence Day - symbolizes the triumph of hope over fear and light over darkness. Join us this Wednesday evening as we host a community event to commemorate and celebrate. We are excited to be joined by students of BCHA who will lead a song for Israel Memorial Day and Daglanut for Yom Haatzmaut. We are also honored to host Professor Yaakov Ariel who will speak on the topic: After Half a Century - An Israeli Soldier in Combat and Captivity. We will also welcome JCC Tzahal Shalom soldiers Captain Danielle Regev, Captain Eitan Levanon and First Lieutenant Etay Tsafrir. Join us on Wednesday evening for a celebratory Maariv following the program and Hallel on Thursday morning in honor of Yom Haaztmaut. We are looking forward to our annual dinner in June. Please take a moment to sign up and join in the celebration. Also, save the date of May 13-14 for our Scholars in Residence from Israel, Rabbi Ben-Tzion and Rabbanit Dr. Tamara Spitz. Join us for a Friday night dinner with them - sign up in the Events section. We welcome NCSY advisors - Ezra Emerson, Melitta Oppenheim, Moshe Kaplan, and Rosie Maimon - for the NCSY Road Show for our teens. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom from Jerusalem, Rabbi Daniel Cohen
