A Passover Prayer for Our Family in Kansas from Erica Brown, Weekly Jewish Wisdom
Pour out Your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you, on kingdoms that do not call upon Your name
Psalms 79:6
To Be Recited After "Pour Out Your Wrath" in the Haggadah
This year as we say, "Pour out Your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you, on kingdoms that do not call upon Your name" (Psalms 79:6), we ask God for the sake of our safety and the safety of all, to eradicate the irrational loathing that motivates hate crimes and replace it with a commitment to grace and kindness. Our hearts are with the people of Kansas. We ask God on this "night of holy protection" to watch over our brothers and sisters in Kansas and our extended family all over the world with compassion and love. "The world is sustained by kindness" (Psalms 89:3); therefore, in the face of unconditional hatred, let us respond with even greater unconditional love and extend God's mercy on all who dwell among us. Amen.
