| | | Can you envision success in your life? In the world of sports, visualization techniques are the province of elite athletes as noted in a recent NYT article. Judaism firmly believes in the idea of mind over matter, and that the power of positive thinking applies in all spheres of life. As Theodore Herzl remarked, "If you will it, it is no dream." As we celebrate the life of our beloved Rabbi Ehrenkranz, we recall how he exuded this attitude. His dream in the 1940's is our reality today and, G-d willing, we will continue to build our vibrant vision of a Torah community. Rashi in Parshat Pekudei expresses this idea in Chapter 39:33. Moshe had trouble building the mishkan due to the weight and G-d enjoined him to visualize the building and, miraculously, the building arose. In life, we cannot be assured of achieving all of our goals but the very first step is seeing the possibilities and envisioning our success with the help of G-d. Your opinions are important whether or not you actually take or are currently engaged in any courses. Ellen Cohn is conducting this research for her doctoral dissertation at Yeshiva University. The survey will also enable us to learn more about our congregants and to better meet your needs. The survey, which is totally anonymous, takes between 10 to 15 minutes. | Chesed | My husband Benjy Brown is in dire need of a kidney transplant.
Benjy has been by my side at The Alan T Brown Foundation for over 26 years and involved in changing many people's lives. We have been married for 50 years. We have a strong family, but it is imperative that we contact as many people and sources as possible locally, nationally and internationally to find a kidney for him.

COMMUNITY CHESED HELPERS An important role of the Chesed committee is outreach to the Shul's elderly and homebound, who are often isolated and lack a lifeline to our synagogue. We are asking for volunteers, from our congregation, willing to reach out to these members to offer an ear, identify areas of need, make a visit, or offer a ride to a doctor's appointment. Even small gestures mean a great deal and do not take much time. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Vivian Weiss at 203-323-0909 or vivianweiss@gmail.com. If you are aware of any elderly or homebound shul members in need of outreach, please notify Rabbi Cohen.
