| | Do we wait until the last minute to do a mitzvah? The Annual Dinner is a month away and the ad deadline is Wednesday, February 26th. Thank you to everyone who has pledged thus far. Procrastination lurks in many spheres of our lives. Sometimes moments present themselves once in a lifetime. Judaism teaches a motto - do not let a mitzvah opportunity go to waste. Every moment is fragile. If we have a chance to invest in the eternal, do it now. This week's Parsha of Vaykhel exemplifies this message. During the Tabernacle fundraising drive, the leaders of the Jewish people waited to see what the people would do. Their attitude was "We will fill in what is left." In the end, they waited too long, the quota was attained, and they missed out on this unique opportunity. Hence, the letter yud is missing from their names. Agudath Sholom is our miniature Temple. We need everyone's support to insure the ongoing operations of our holy institution. It is your investment in your family, our community and future. Thank you very much in advance for your generosity. As in the Temple, whether you give a lot or a little, what is most important is to give from your heart. Please click here to register for the Dinner. On another note, this Thursday night, Diane and I are blessed to be hosting one of my spiritual mentors, Rabbi David Aaron, founder of Isralight and noted kabbalist, speaker and author, at our home. We visited with him in November on our Israel tour. Please join us next Thursday evening at 9-10:15 pm at our home for a presentation on Living on Purpose: Why on Earth am I Here? (The evening is one of learning, with no solicitations.) Please let me know by Tuesday if you are able to come by emailing me at rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org. It will be a very special evening for growth and learning. To learn more about Rabbi Aaron, visit www.rabbidavidaaron.com. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Daniel Cohen |

COMMUNITY CHESED HELPERS An important role of the Chesed committee is outreach to the Shul's elderly and homebound, who are often isolated and lack a lifeline to our synagogue. We are asking for volunteers, from our congregation, willing to reach out to these members to offer an ear, identify areas of need, make a visit, or offer a ride to a doctor's appointment. Even small gestures mean a great deal and do not take much time. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Vivian Weiss at 203-323-0909 or vivianweiss@gmail.com. If you are aware of any elderly or homebound shul members in need of outreach, please notify Rabbi Cohen.
WELCOME TO OUR SYNAGOGUE PROGRAM As you know, every Shabbat we station ushers at the doors in the sanctuary to welcome people, assist them and enhance the dignity of the service. In an effort to create an even warmer environment, we are expanding the usher roles to include a greeter in the lobby from 9-10:30 am. Please join the usher team. We need you and your smile. To find out more and sign up, contact Mitchell Bell. | |
