Shabbat Shalom
We hope you and your family are well.

We will wish a Tzetchem LeShalom to Rabbi Avi and Dena Block and their family. We are thrilled that they are making aliyah and moving to Israel but will miss them greatly in Stamford. They will leave an indelible mark on our community. Join us this Shabbat for a Farewell Fete in the Park for the family at the 5th Street Playground Park from 4 PM - 5 PM. Rabbi Block will grace us with one last Parsha shiur before they leave for camp and Israel and we will share a few words of tribute in their honor.

Our annual meeting is right around the corner on Tuesday evening, June 22nd at 7:30 PM. Mincha and Maariv will follow at 8:20 PM. Mazal Tov to our CSS volunteers who will receive the George and Ziporah Freedberg Excellence in Spirit Hineni Award. We also look forward to hearing from YOU at the meeting. Do you have a special story or memory of how the shul helped you through the year of the pandemic? At our annual meeting scheduled for June 22, we would like to hear from you about how Congregation Agudath Sholom helped you manage the year of covid. Send us a short recording of yourself detailing your story that we will share at the meeting. Please forward all videos to mfeinberg@cas-stamford.org. We look forward to hearing your memories.

We are beginning to plan for the High Holidays and would love your input. If you have not yet filled out the High Holiday survey, please do so at your earliest convenience.

We are happy to announce the creation of a new youth group called "Little Lights" for 2 years olds. This group will take place in the social hall from 10:00-10:45am. One parent is required to stay with the child throughout the duration of groups. Masks are encouraged for the kids and required for the parent.

Tot Shabbat, which is now for ages 3 and 4 will be drop-off and will be located in the hallway between the main sanctuary and Social Hall from 10:00-10:45am. Please note that you must pick your child up at 10:45am when groups are over. Masks are required for each child. Thank you to our stellar youth lay and professional leadership. We are grateful to our ever growing participants, thank God.

We continue to offer our prayers for the state and people of Israel. It is crucial for us to mobilize our voices in support of Israel and the bonds between America and Israel. For more resources for advocacy, visit Stand with Us, AIPAC and ADL.

Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom and good news locally and in Israel in the days ahead,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

We Need Volunteers for CSS (Community Security Service)!
Please sign up to join us at CSS. Our current group of 12 dedicated volunteers can no longer do this without others. We have been called upon to do shifts 3 out of four weekends and some of us are burning out.

The need for CSS is greater than ever. But if YOU don't step in to volunteer, we will not be able to continue.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

We will be offering training online and in Stamford in early June.

Please reach out to Simeon Wohlberg, the office, or Adam Breiner (adambr@thecss.org) ifyou are interested in signing up for training.

Updated COVID Guidelines starting May 20th, 2021
All guidelines in accordance with new State of CT regulations effective May 19, 2021.
  • Indoors - Masks required for non vaccinated individuals. Masks optional for those who are vaccinated. Seats will remain with six feet social distancing.
  • Outdoors - Masks will not be required outdoors for anyone and social distance seating will be diminished to 3 ft.
  • Torah Reading - The plexiglass separating the Torah readers from the person receiving the aliyah will be removed. Following your aliyah, please do not stand on the other side of the shulchan but return to your seat.
  • Kiddush - Since kiddush is outdoors, masks are no longer required. We will still provide a COVID-safe kiddush for the benefit of all our members. Seating will be available, weather permitting.
  • Contact Tracing and Sign Up - We will no longer maintain sign ups for weekday and Shabbat. However due to security measures, all people entering the parking lot by vehicle on Shabbat morning will be asked for their name and checked off on the pre registered list. Sign up via email with Kim at kmahoney@cas-stamford.org

Youth Guidelines:
All adults attending groups must continue to wear a mask inside CAS. This is to model the behavior that we expect from the children who are required to wear a mask under CAS policy. As a reminder, children aged 2 are encouraged to wear a mask and all children under 12 and any children over 12 who are not yet fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask.

More good news! We have made it even easier to come and daven on Shabbat. Children are now permitted to accompany their parents to minyan provided that they are able to sit with you during davening. Try coming to a 9am Shabbat minyan with your child(ren) and then drop them off at groups at 10am while you come back and enjoy the rest of your davening experience.
