Shabbat Shalom
We hope you and your families are well.

We wish everyone a wonderful Shabbat Shira this weekend. Shabbat Shira, the Shabbat of Song, underscores our belief in the miraculous latent in all of life. In the words of the Ramban, the open miracles testify to the hidden hand of God breathing life into the world each day. Song is also a powerful way to unite diverse voices into one vision. Check out One Day by Kullulam - click here.

We are looking forward to hosting Rabbi Shlomo Weissman of the Beth Din of America this Monday evening on the topic of Halachic Estate Planning and Pesha Kletenik on Esther: Pawn or Politician on Wednesday evening. For more details, visit www.cas-stamford.org.

We are grateful for the increased distribution of vaccines in our community. Please see the letter below if the shul can offer support in any way.

Each winter, I visit our snowbirds in Florida. This year due to COVID, I will not be able to make the trip but would love to set up a virtual visit with our members. If you would like to "meet" please email me and we will set up a time. Looking forward to it and I will provide the snacks. :)

Thank God, our capital improvements are well underway and we are making amazing progress. Thank you to Rachel Dayan, our building chair, and the building committee for their wise and dedicated leadership of the process. If you would like to invest in the project with a gift, please contact me at rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org or our capital chairs, Shush Yasgur (shush.walshe@gmail.com) or Harvey Kaminski (hlkaminski@gmail.com).

This Shabbat, join us for one of the two Shabbat morning minyanim at 7 and 9 AM, teen minyan at 10:45 am, Mini Minyan/Tot Shabbot at 11 am, and Junior Cong at 2:30 pm. We will continue to offer outdoor mincha and maariv next week. For up to date info, join the CAS Outdoor Minyan WhatsApp group.

Thank you for your partnership and wishing you and your family a Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

Agudath Sholom and the Life & Legacy Initiative

Agudath Sholom is proud to be one of more than 680 Jewish organizations across North America that have secured over 1 billion dollars in legacy commitments to ensure a bright Jewish future.

To date, our collaboration with 10 other Stamford organizations, United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation's LIFE & LEGACY initiative, has led 97 donors just like you to commit gifts of over 4 million dollars to local organizational endowments.

Without writing a check today, you too can do your part to help the Agudath Sholom build our endowment and help build the endowments of the other Jewish organizations in our community you value, so we can weather turbulent times like these and adapt to meet evolving community needs.

This is a very simple process, and when Agudath Sholom reaches our first goal of 18 -25 Letters of Intent, we will receive a financial incentive grant that can be used immediately for any synagogue need.

Join our members who have already signed letters of intent. We are deeply appreciative of their commitment to Agudath Sholom!

Important Announcement from the Vaad HaKashrus of Fairfield County  In partnership with Navaratna, the VKFC (Vaad HaKashrus of Fairfield County) has determined it necessary to update its protocols for the establishment. For the near future, we will temporarily suspend our certificate of supervision, while we help the restaurant undergo these necessary improvements. The VKFC advises our community members to refrain from dining there for the time being. We look forward to reinstating our supervision with a high standard of kashrut soon and will inform the community as soon as that takes place. Please contact Rabbi Cohen or Rabbi Kurtz with any inquiries. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Making Mitzvah Moments Opportunity
As you may be aware, the United Kingdom is entering a renewed lockdown. One significant concern is that those who are saying kaddish for loved ones will not have access to a minyan during this period of lockdown.
In the spirit of Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh Bazeh, we are partnering with our British brothers and sisters to support their community. A website has been established at theus.org.uk/kaddishvolunteers to allow those with access to a minyan to recite Kaddish for those who do not.

Community Announcements
  • HELP SPONSOR THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY CONNECTICUT JEWISH BASEBALL LEAGUE Registration is about to open for the 2021 FCCJBL and we warmly invite your organization/company to partner with us to make this year extraordinary. In 2019, we had over 85 kids take the field and even more signed up to play last year, which was unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic. Though participants pay registration fees, we can't run the program without the help of generous sponsors like you. Sponsorships are available ranging from $100-$360. All sponsors will be listed and continuously appreciated throughout our social media, on our webpage, in print media, and will be listed in a highly visible place for all participants to see each Sunday at Scalzi Park. Please be in touch with Ari (goldsteinari1@gmail.com) or Jessie (jessie.d.katz@gmail.com) by February 5 if your company or organization would like to partner with FCCJBL.
