Giving from the Heart A financial prospectus generally warns that past results are no guarantee of the future. We can never be assured that an investment in a company is going to yield dividends. However, in the realm of the spiritual, God assures eternal rewards. God states in this week's Torah portion of Terumah, "Make for me a sanctuary, I will dwell in them." Notice that the object of the verse is not "it" referring to the sanctuary, but "them" signifying the people. God promises us that if we make space for Him in our lives, dedicate our talents and treasure to him, and give from the heart, he will shower us with his eternal blessings. In this spirit, I want to thank everyone who has contributed thus far to our annual dinner paying tribute to our worthy honorees, Sandy and Lillian Shapiro, Sandy Goldstein and Kate and Peretz Cik. Diane and I are deeply grateful to serve as guests of honor and look forward God wiling to a wonderful celebration on March 15th! Thank you much to all of our chairs, Harvey and Helene Kaminski and Arlene and Irwin Ettinger, honorary chairs, Doreen Nusbaum and Rhonda Schaffer Maron, journal chairs, and Stella Cohen, Tricia Hoff and Navah Zizmor, dinner chairs. If you have not yet added your name to our growing list of donors, please give from the heart and make a generous investment in our future. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Daniel Cohen
- Duvie Shapiro as our guest Chazan this Shabbat. He will lead Kaballat Shabbat, Shacharit and Musaf
- Rabbi Elie Schwartz, assistant Rabbi candidate and his wife, Miriam, who are visiting this Shabbat. Rabbi Schwartz will be speaking multiple times during Shabbat and hosting a meet and greet before mincha at the shul

Best wishes to our CAS AIPAC delegation who will travel this weekend to Washington DC for Policy Conference. We are over 80 strong! Mazal Tov to our AIPAC fellows who we will recognize during the prayer for the state of Israel on Shabbat morning. |
Thank you to Andrea and Dan Aaron for sponsoring a wonderful evening with Sivan Rahav Meir. We discussed the importance of participating in the World Zionist Congress election and casting your vote for Slate 4, the Orthodox Israel Coalition. This will translate into more money for our gap-year students studying in Israel after high school, more Orthodox Shlichim, more Jewish Zionist education in Israel's public schools and in Jewish camps in the FSU, and a strengthened fight against BDS on our college campuses. Please go now - do not wait - to www.rza.org/vote and follow the instructions to vote for Slate 4, the Orthodox Israel Coalition. |
- The Search Committee for a new Assistant Rabbi has been meeting with numerous candidates and we have reserved the weekends of Feb 28-29, March 13-14, and March 20-21 for tryout weekends. All candidates will speak multiple times over Shabbat. There will also be a welcome tea one hour before Mincha on Shabbat at the shul for an informal meet and greet open to all members. Bios of the candidates will be sent out shortly. Thank you - Simeon Wohlberg & Toby Schaffer, co-chairs
- CAS is starting a Whatsapp Group for those who can participate in Shiva Minyanim during the week. If you are able to join a minyan in either the morning or evening please connect with Simeon Wohlberg who will put you in the group

Important Messages from our Teen Advisor Tani Polansky Hi everyone! For those of you I haven't met yet, I'm the director of public school teen programming. I just wanted to keep y'all in the loop about what has been happening this year. We have had a weekly club running in Westhill High School every Tuesday and a beautiful and uplifting monthly Friday night dinner here in Stamford. I've been playing music, speaking and teaching at chapter, regional, and national level NCSY events as a part of the Northeast staff team. We have some awesome events coming up, including a Purim party at Westhill, a Friday night lights on March 7th, and a special Saturday night program on March 21st. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach me by email Tanip@ncsy.org. |
Stamford JSH Fellowship There is an incredible opportunity for your teens, in partnership between CAS and NCSY, to develop themselves as leaders, learn about their Judaism, and impact their community in a positive way. The first ever cohort of the "Stamford JSU Fellowship" begins Tuesday night, March 17. It is a three month long, six session program, where teens will get together for an hour every other week, with free catered dinner, and learn about leadership, build community, and have a great time together working to create impact. Every signup will receive an entry to win a pair of AirPods, and a second entry for every friend the teen refers!! It's a fabulous resume builder, and college reference/letter of rec. will be offered as well! For more info, contact Tani at Tanip@ncsy.org |

The Joy Of Giving Tuesday, March 10 Purim is around the corner. As Adar arrives, we are obligated to increase our joy. Be happy is the mantra. However, Judaism teaches and it has been shown scientifically click here that it is giving, not receiving, that makes us happy. It is no wonder that Purim is a holiday marked by mitzvot of Mishloach Manot and Matanot Levyonim. In fact, the Rambam writes that we should spend more money on gifts to the poor than on gifts to our friends. In this spirit, if you would like to participate in the mitzvah of matanot laevyonim, please drop a check at the shul or make a donation online click here to donate now and earmark for Purim. The funds will be distributed locally via CAS and JFS and to needy families in Jerusalem. To learn more about Purim, listen to some of our Purim podcasts or attend one of our weekly classes. |
