The Secret to the Warmth and Welcome of CAS

The Secret is YOU. Each one of us, regardless of age or background, is an ambassador for CAS and the Jewish community. There are many ways to help spread the warmth. It starts with a simple hello in shul, an invite for Shabbat, or offering a coffee to get to know them and share the lay of the land in our community. Thank God, as our community grows, there are even more opportunities to welcome and build our vibrant and inclusive Jewish community. Over the summer, many families are moving into the area. Here are few more concrete ways to connect with community:

1. Visit our Meet and Greet Table at Kiddush - Over the summer, we will designate a meet and greet table to foster new friendships. Whether recently moved to Stamford or here for many years, visit the table and make a new friend.

2. Join our Hospitality Initiative - When someone new moves to town, we inform our hospitality team, who are thrilled to welcome them for a Shabbat meal. If you would like to be part of our hospitality team who are committed to hosting at least one new family every couple of months, please contact Rabbi Cohen (rabbicohen@cas-stamford.org) or our membership chair, Rachel Kaimowitz (rachelshields@gmail.com). We send monthly updates to the group.

3. Join the New Mother's Meal Train - When a new baby is born, the chesed committee provides meals for a week or two. We encourage everyone, regardless of the stage of your life, who would like to join. If you would like to be added to the meal train list, please contact Chesed Co-chairs Shira Nerenberg (nerenbergfam@gmail.com) or Alissa Weisser (alisaweisser@gmail.com).

Message from the Stamford UJF Jewish Community Relations Council

You may recall that Yoon Chul Shin was arrested at the Maccabi games here in Stamford last summer. He has been released from prison but is not allowed to be in Stamford unless he is going to the court or the police department and is not under any circumstances allowed on the property of Jewish institutions anywhere in the country. He is also not permitted to stay or reside in the State of Connecticut. There is no reason to assume he will violate the terms of his release, but if you see Mr. Shin or his distinctive car, please contact the Stamford police.

Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik was known as one of the 20th century's most prominent religious thinkers. His ideas continue to resonate throughout Jewish and non-Jewish circles alike. Join us on Thursday mornings at 9 AM as we study the thought of this spiritual giant. We will begin with his monumental work in English, "The Lonely Man of Faith." Copies will be distributed.

Young Familes Oneg in the Shabbos Park July 15 Come join us in the park on Shabbat (weather permitting) at 4:30 pm for an oneg. Please bring a parve snack or dessert!

Toddler Time Playgroup Tuesdays, 3:30 pm. Please join us for an hour of free play for children 1 to 4 years old and their caregivers. Facilitated by two moms of toddlers, this drop-in group meets weekly at CAS in the downstairs children's classroom. No cost, a light snack provided. Info: Jessica Furmansky JessicaL83@gmail.com.

THE HARVEST NOW GARDEN IS BACK - WE NEED YOU! The Harvest Now Garden produces vegetables for a local homeless shelter. It is a great project for young and old and families. HEALING VISITS MITZVAH UPDATE - Thank you to all of our volunteers on our healing visits team. The healing visits team is a group of men and women in our shul who visit people in the hospital, facilities or at at home. It a very meaningful way to lift people's sprits and make a difference. You can offer as much or as little time as you have for each person is world unto themselves are your warmth lights up their day. Every week we send out a healing visit update. CAS FREE MEZUZAH CAMPAIGN IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT Bringing Blessings to Jewish Homes. Do you know a neighbor or a friend who lacks a mezuzah?
