Get Ready for the High Holidays @ CAS

  • As we did last year, we will hold three services on the high holidays: Sanctuary, Chapel, and the Library on Rosh Hashana and in a specially constructed room on Yom Kippur. Reserved seating is available in all services. If you have not done so yet, please return this form to the office to confirm your reservations.
  • Remember your loved ones in our annual Yizkor Book. Please return your Yizkor Book renewal form (mail or email) or call the office
  • Selichot Program Forum on Forgiveness.  Saturday night, September 5th - 9 PM - 10:PM. Featuring Ted Talks on Forgiveness by Joshua Prager (click here to view) In Search of the Man who Broke my Neck and Aicha el-Wafi + Phyllis Rodriguez The mothers who found forgiveness, friendship and discussion facilitated by Rabbi Cohen and Rabbi Walk.
  • Selichot led by Chazan Bokow at 10 PM and late selichot at 12:30 AM.

A welcome Shabbat for new and prospective members on August 29 at CAS featuring: a festive kiddush after services, an afternoon oneg - 4pm at Barrett field (aka the "Shabbos Park") (or if it rains, event will be held September 12 in the park), lunch with a member family upon request via email to jessieoser@gmail.com by Monday, August 24.
Come check out our inspiring services, our youth programming, and the warmth of our vibrant community. Those who register by August 29 will receive a Shabbat treat delivered to their door by a shul member. Everyone considering joining or who recently joined the CAS community is welcome!

On October 3 the Sisterhood wants everyone in our congregation enjoying their shabbat afternoon having Sukkot lunch with other members of our shul, at homes across the community.
Come be a part of Sukkot as it's supposed to be...within the beauty and spirituality of the sukkah, enjoying friends, old and new.
This event is FREE.
Host families will provide food for the meal.
Guests will be asked to bring wine, challah, and pareve dessert (more details when you sign up!)

  • SAVE THE DATE: ANNUAL LABOR DAY SOFTBALL GAME Please join Agudath Sholom as we defend the Kiddish Cup in our annual softball game. Come cheer us on at the JCC on Monday Sept 7th @ 4pm
  • JOIN THE CAS SECURITY COMMITTEE The CAS Security and Safety Committee chairs, Robert Hoff and Tamir Daniel, are seeking volunteers to join the Committee and assist them with developing a comprehensive security and safety plan for the Shul. The Committee's goal is to develop a plan that will enhance our members' experience at CAS by addressing a number of issues, including general security, fire safety, traffic safety, and medical emergencies, among others. The Committee values and welcomes the input of the entire CAS community and seeks volunteers to help in the effort.   • CAS FREE MEZUZAH CAMPAIGN IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT Bringing Blessings to Jewish Homes. Do you know a neighbor or a friend who lacks a mezuzah?   • COMMUNITY CHESED HELPERS An important role of the Chesed committee is outreach to the Shul's elderly and homebound, who are often isolated and lack a lifeline to our synagogue.   • LINKING GENERATIONS OF THE SHOAH-Our 2nd Generation Group began in July 2012. We are a group of approximately fifty members ranging in age from 40 and up and we come from all over CT and Westchester County. Our monthly meetings take place in Westport, CT (usually at the UJA offices) every second Tuesday of the month. Spouses of 2G members as well as 3rd Generation often attend our general meetings.   • HOW TO PERFORM A PROPER TAHARA Save the Date! Rabbi Elchanan Zohn, founder of the National Association of Chevra Kadishas and the foremost expert on taharas and Jewish burial practices, will be at Congregation Agudath Sholom on Sunday morning, November 8th, from 9AM-12 noon to conduct a three-hour training program on the proper way to perform a tahara. The session is appropriate as a refresher course for those who have performed taharas in the past, as well as those beginners who want to learn more about this important Jewish ritual.
