The Torah states clearly that Amalek, the nation and ideology, wages war with God from one generation to the next. Whether the historic Amalek, Nazism, Iran or ISIS, God warns the world to be vigilant, recognize evil and fight it. It is no coincidence that the world is riveted by Prime Minister's Netanyahu's visit to the United States warning of the dangers of a nuclear Iran. His speech is scheduled for the day before Purim eve, when millions of Jews in synagogues around the world will read Esther's ancient charge against Persian courtier Haman: "For we have been sold, my people and I, to be destroyed, massacred and exterminated." Whether you are joining us in Washington to hear him or not, we are all are called upon to engage in the drama of our history and future. Listen to the reading on Shabbat. Join virtually at the AIPAC PC (www.aipac.org) on Sunday and Monday. Fast and pray with our people on Taanit Esther this Wednesday. Celebrate the hand of God and redemptions past, present and future on Purim night and day. For more Purim resources, visit www.ou.org, www.yutorah.org and www.aish.com. I also urge you to visit www.honestreporting.com for accurate information on the events of the day. May we merit this Purim to witness the transformation of despair into hope and darkness into light. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom and joyous Purim Rabbi Daniel Cohen from Rabbi Cohen - Best wishes to the CAS Delegation attending Policy Conference. We are over 80 strong. Yasher Koach to our Agudath Sholom Teen Fellows: Tamar Cohen, Daniel Jubas, Eitan Karsch, Gabriella Lieberman, Jonah Listokin, Daniel Meiteles, Tany Neuhaus, Remy Neuhaus, Andrew Pitkoff, Sarah Smart, and Jennifer Steinmetz.
- We are grateful to Stephanie and Bob Sherman, in memory of Stephanie's mother, Rosalie Aberman; Michael and Sandra Kamen; and an anonymous donor for sponsoring the Teen Fellows.
- This Shabbat we are hosting the JR Congregation Shabbaton. Yasher Koach to Rabbi Jeiger and his youth team for organizing the event.
- The reading of Parshat Zachor is one of the 613 commandments. It is an obligation of everyone in the community to hear the verses read from the Torah. In addition to the reading at maftir, there will also be a reading at the conclusion of davening in the main sanctuary.
