I would suggest the number 13. Beginning this Saturday night and through Yom Kippur we recite the 13 attributes of mercy. We sing the words as a community in hopes of beseeching G-d to forgive us, be slow to anger and remembers our acts of kindness for generations. Yet, we may be missing the point. The Talmud teaches us that these words first articulated my Moshe asking for G-d's forgiveness for the Jewish people following the golden calf constitute the formula for our prayers. However, as Rabbi Moshe Cordevero explains the words are not a magic formula. Recitation without ruach will not suffice. The words are only effective if we embody these attributes ourselves. If we lead a Godly life, if we are slow to anger, quick to forgive, and act with compassion, then we will merit G-d's grace. If not, the word are hollow. We are created in the image of G-d to embody and amplify his glory in the world. Live the 13 this year and may G-d bless you and your family with a sweet, healthy and joyous new year. We are a group of approximately fifty members ranging in age from 40 and up and we come from all over CT and Westchester County. Thursday & Friday,Oct 9-10 and Thursday & Friday, Oct 16-17 Sukkot Groups Our all star groups continue throughout the holidays and will always keep your children engaged and motivated to come to shul! Holiday groups have a special emphasis on the special holiday prayers and experiences that our kids all love. Friday, Oct 10 - Sukkah Hop Hop along with us as we study Torah, tell stories and have a snack in our friend's Sukkot- celebrating the holidays with friends is what it's all about! Hops are organized for children of all ages. Please let us know if you would like to be on the route this year. (Shabbat Oct 11 - Sukkah Hop Rain Date if needed) Thursday, Oct 16 - Simchat Torah Programs Afternoon programs for our little ones include dancing with the Torah, visiting the Main Sanctuary Ark, kissing all of the Torahs, reading and looking inside a Torah and lots of songs and a light dinner. The older children are invited for special Youth Hakafot during the evening hours and will also join the adult dancing for 2 special Youth Hakafot. All children in attendance to either program get a special goody bag to enjoy during the festivities.   Shabbat, Oct 18 - Parshat Berasheit - Grades 4 and up Mishna and Hot Cocoa with Rabbi Jeiger - join us each Shabbat at 10:15 am near the elevator for a weekly Mishna and some delicious hot cocoa... we will aim to complete a Mesechet by the end of the year!Learning and Fun - cant be beat! Friday, Oct 24 - Parshat Noach - Tot Kabbalat Shabbat Bring in Shabbat with your Tots and PJ Library as we have a special presentation in honor of Parshat Noach.
