| | Is our passion still high? Coming off the peak of Shavuot and re-engagement with Torah, can we maintain the enthusiasm? We may have finished counting the omer, but we never finish making our days count.
This message rings loud and clear in the beginning of the Torah portion of Behaalotcha. Aaron is credited with following G-d's command to light the menorah. Rashi explains the seemingly extraneous compliment as Aaron always fulfill G-d's will by noting that Aaron did not change his actions one iota. The commentators explain that Aaron lit the Menorah the 100th time with same dedication and excitement that he possessed when he lit the menorah the first time.
The challenge we all face is staying alert to our mission, passionate in our performance and awakened to our destiny. On a personal level, what is the menorah we are lighting every day? On a national level, what are we doing every day to advance the future of the Jewish people and Israel? Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom,

CAS Men's ClubBreakfast THIS Sunday, June 8, 9:15 am Guest Speaker: NYC ADL Director Evan Bernstein Topic: Jews Under Crises Worldwide Men & women welcome! Join Evan R. Bernstein, ADL's New York Regional Director, for a discussion on ADL's Global Anti-Semitism Index, the most extensive such poll ever conducted, involving 102 countries and territories. The Global 100 provides important insights into national and regional attitudes toward Jews, the levels of acceptance of anti-Semitic stereotypes and knowledge of the Holocaust. The presentation will focus on understanding the magnitude of anti-Semitism around the world, assessing where it is most problematic, how pervasive it is in certain regions, and exactly which anti-Jewish beliefs are the most seriously entrenched.
Evan is currently ADL's New York Regional Director and is responsible for overseeing all New York and New Jersey state initiatives. He is regularly quoted in news sources that include the New York Times, CNN, and the Huffington Post about ADL's perspective on key regional and national issues. Evan came to ADL after extensive experience in operations, development and leadership at several major Jewish and Israeli communal organizations. Evan earned a BSW from Western Connecticut State University and a ALM from Harvard University. Men's Club members who have paid $50 membership fee are admitted free.

There are many new families that are joining the Agudath community or who are interested in learning more about our community, so it would be great to have many families come to the Oneg to provide these newcomers with a warm welcome to Stamford. Lastly, should the weather not cooperate and it rains, we will relocate to the Shul where we will set up games, puzzles, etc. for the kids and have an in-door oneg at the same time. - CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - CAS "HARVEST NOW" GARDEN Spring is finally here! We need experienced or inexperienced but interested gardeners for this season's Harvest Now garden at the shul. Last year, we grew, harvested and donated over 200 pounds of produce for the local food bank. Let's beat that amount this year! HISTORICAL PROGRAM Stamford Historical Society on Sunday, June 8 2-5 PM, highlighting the histories of three local congregations that played an important role in Stamford's history during the Progressive Era (1890-1920): the Union Baptist Church (organized 1888), Congregation Agudath Shalom (1889) and St. John's Lutheran Church (1891).
