Did you set aside time to study Torah? One of my most vivid memories as a child is going to the movies with my father. Until this day, among many other endeavors, he is a movie buff and critic, blogs on www.koshermovies.com and shares meaningful insights from film.
What stands out in my mind, though, are the moments before the film. He studied mishna. He would always a carry a Jewish book to capture a few moments of learning. Over a life time, these fleeting opportunites are eternalized. As we approach Shavuot, think about the value of one minute. Carry a Jewish book or app, seize a few moments while "waiting" to refresh your day with Torah. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom,

You are cordially invited to welcome Chazzan Andres Kornworcel and his wife Ariana Alfie to Congregation Agudath Sholom this Shabbat, May 11 and 12.
Cantor Kornworcel will lead davening Friday night, as well as Saturday in the sanctuary.
He will be available for conversation at kiddush on Shabbat and at 6 pm tea Shabbat afternoon at the shul ****** Chazzan Kornworcel was born, raised and attended university in Montevideo, Uruguay. He has served at shuls in Montevideo, Mexico City and Las Vegas. Chazzan Kornworcel received his cantorial training at Machon Tel Aviv in Israel. Chazzan Kornworcel has been involved in all aspects of his current synagogue, including davening, leining and teaching b'nai mitzvah, serving as choir director and officiating at all lifecycle events. In addition, Chazzan Kornworcel has organized and developed many community and synagogue programs, including a Yom Yerushalayim concert, a Holocaust remembrance program, Davening 101 and a Purim Parade. Chazzan Kornworcel describes himself in the following manner, "My professional life centers around the development of warm, caring relationships I foster in being available for any person's needs and also inviting congregants to our home for Shabbat and Jewish Holidays." Chazzan Kornworcel and his wife, Ariana Alfie, speak Spanish, English, and Hebrew, and have two children Carol, 9 and Eduardo, 6. Ariana has a graduate degree in business, runs a home-based personalization company, and has been involved in shul event planning and dance instruction. She also speaks Yiddish. ***** Cantor Kornworcel is the first cantor who will be visiting as part of our current cantor search. Details regarding other candidates and weekends will follow.
