Rabbi Kurtz will lead a class in shul on Shabbat afternoon between mincha and maariv. Join Rabbi Yossi Kamman for a pre Shabbat mincha class on the Code of Jewish Law. We are looking forward to a beautiful Shavuot together. The theme for the learning will be Halachic Controversies in Jewish History. I will be joined by Rabbi Kurtz and Rabbi Avi Block for presentations on Shavuot night and we will also learn from Sam Sroka and Dena Block who will host a Shavuot afternoon program for women featuring a panel of women in our community. Pick up a Free Pastry Pop at Beldottis and bring to your vaccination appointment and bring a token of appreciation, such as a Pasty Pop and/or a handmade card, a printed poster, balloons or a gift card to give to someone working at the site. - CAS FREE MEZUZAH CAMPAIGN IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT Bringing Blessings to Jewish Homes. Do you know a neighbor or a friend who lacks a mezuzah? Israel Action Alert -
Statement from the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations
Israel Under Fire
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fired more than 1100 rockets this week targeting Israeli civilians in densely populated areas, murdering and maiming innocent civilians, threatening millions of lives, and sending schoolchildren running for cover. Eighty rockets were fired in a short time today. Several of them hit residential neighborhoods and many people were hurt including a six-year-old who was critically injured. (See latest operational update from the Israel Defense Forces.)
Israel has the right and the obligation to defend Israeli citizens under attack.
Take Action Now
Tell the Administration, Senators and members of Congress that the American people stand with our ally Israel. Elected officials and other leaders should speak out strongly noting Israel's efforts to avoid civilian casualties, including providing advance warnings. Many Hamas rockets landed in Gaza causing damage and casualties to the local Palestinian population.
Urge the Administration, Senators and members of Congress to hold Hamas and its state sponsors accountable, and to support Israel's right and responsibility to defend its citizens.
Urge your member of Congress to support the bipartisan Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act, which cuts off financial pipelines used by Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza. This legislation will sanction Palestinian terror groups and cut off funds used to perpetuate terror. It also will require the President to identify to Congress persons, agencies or institutions that assists Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, or an affiliate or successor of these organizations.
There is no moral equivalency between a democracy protecting its citizens and a violent terrorist organization supported by Iran and others. We deeply desire an end to all violence but that cannot be accomplished by shifting responsibility to Israel. Israel has demonstrated unprecedented restraint focusing on preventative measures, while her enemies stockpiled offensive weapons.
We mourn the loss of life, pray for an end to the terror, for the security of Israel, and for the safety of her citizens. |

May 19th and May 26th 8:00 PM Stand With Us -- We are hosting virtual events with StandWithUs, aimed at preparing our pro-Israel student leaders for life on college campuses. We will discuss the transition to campus, new campus trends related to pro-Israel and anti-Israel activities, and key concepts and misconceptions about Israel, Zionism, and Judaism as well as how to convey these concepts to those less informed.
