USHERS NEEDED FOR HOLIDAYS:
An usher's responsibilities include greeting people as they enter into the sanctuary, answering any questions, and standing by the door to minimize interruptions at critical times of the davening so that people can focus on the Tefillah.  The doors should be kept closed during the Torah Reading, the Rabbi's sermon, Yizkor on Yom Kippur and the announcements.  Please RSVP to Elisheva Kilner at kelevtov1836@gmail.com

Please support our 7:58 late minyan today

Get ready for Judgement Day.

This is not a movie advertisement. but a reminder that this Tuesday we begin the month of Elul. G-d willing, we will all be in shul celebrating the New Year but the road to success lies in preparation. We begin to sound the shofar and use the next 30 days to get ready.

Rabbeinu Yitchak Abohav writes in Menoras HaMeor:

Any intelligent person who is scheduled for trial before a mortal king will surely spend sleepless nights and days preparing his case. He will seek the advice of every knowledgeable person he knows who can help him prepare his case. He will go to great lengths to attain a favorable verdict, even if all that is at stake is but a small part of his fortune, and he faces no personal risk.

Should he not do so as well when brought to judgment before the Supreme King of Kings, the Holy Blessed One, when not only he, but his children and his fortune all hang in the balance?

The month ahead is filled with opportunity. Read this article to learn more,

attend a class, listen to a podcast or develop your own personal mission statementRosh Hashana is a Day of Judgement but also a time when G-d is more accessible than the rest of the year. Seize the time to refresh your connection to G-d, your family and community.

Wishing you and your families a year inscribed in the Book of Life,

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel Cohen

HOST ISRAELI VIPS THURSDAY AUGUST 8 THROUGH SUNDAY AUGUST 11.

Help us welcome a very special group of Israeli children who have paid a big price personally for our collective ability to count on the State of Israel. Each one has lost a parent in the line of duty, protecting Israel. The nonprofit that looks out for them, IDF Widows and Orphans Organization , will be sending us a group of 44 twelve and thirteen-year-olds and a dozen chaperones Thursday evening, August 8  (around 6 pm) through Sunday morning, August 11. They require housing and meals in groups of 4 or more.  Families who hosted up last year had a remarkable experience, as did the children, one reason why Stamford is back as a host city this year! Since 4 of the children are Druze, Arabic-speaking hosts are especially welcome!

There will be a  a backyard dessert and swim party at the Bodurtha home after Shabbat Saturday night for all host families and their charges, catered by Main Event.

If you can host, please reach out ASAP to Liam's mom Alison at cowan@nytimes.com / 212-556-1501 or Jackie at jackiework@optonline.net  / 203-564-6232.

Tot Shabbat, Mini Minyan and Jr. Cong. continue all summer long.

Introducing a new feature-meet the leaders of our various youth groups!

Meet Our Fabulous Leaders

this week's featured leaders:

Zach Kfare - Junior Congregation Leader

Hi! I'm Zach. I was born and raised in Stamford, CT. I am an alumnus of Bi-Cultural Day School and Westchester Hebrew High School. I attended Yeshivat Lev HaTorah in Israel for a year and a half where I gained inspiration and increased my knowledge in Judaic studies. I am currently enrolled in Yeshiva University majoring in business. I attended Camp Stone for many years and was very involved in the Friendship Circle during high school. In addition, I was a youth leader at the Young Israel of Stamford and have worked at Camp Gan Israel in Greenwich as a head counselor and bus monitor. I enjoy playing basketball, hanging out with friends, eating pizza, and of course, studying Torah. I am excited to be working at Agudath Sholom this year and getting to know the children of Junior Congregation. I look forward to having lots of fun and learning together.

Morah Abby Berk

This fall, I will be a senior at SAR High School in Riverdale, NY.  During the year, I play for my school's indoor soccer team and have been captain for the past two years.  Also, I volunteer at the Friendship Circle a couple of Sundays every month, where I work with a girl who has special needs.  This past year, I took an art class in Hebrew calligraphy and continue to work on my skills over the summer.  I love spending time with kids and can't wait to spend another great year with Junior Congregation!

Morah Adina Cohen
My name is Adina Cohen and I am an upcoming senior at Ma'ayanot Yeshiva High School For Girls. I love soccer, science and hanging out with friends. I am looking forward to another fun year with Junior Congregation.

Shabbat Shalom!
